Crossing the Magic Mountain

And we do it. walking with 14 horses, crossing the Cadí to take advantage of the pastures on the North face of this mountain, which looks different at every moment, depending on the light and the weather. A true natural spectacle and an initiatory experience.

Your contribution will allow us to have the resources (economic and human) necessary to carry out the Transhumance, accompanying the horses to the new pasture, covering the expenses (route design, guidance, organization and management, permits, grass supplement for the horses during the night stop, fences) that this adventure requires. This is a movement that we do exclusively for the welfare of horses. Most of the tasks are carried out voluntarily and altruistically by the people who are part of the Foundation.

The amount of the contribution is a donation and will be certified for tax deduction.

If you join us for the 2 days, you will be rewarded! Becoming a member for 6 months, therefore, once the procedure is completed, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of being a member of the foundation during this period.

To sign up for Transhumance, there are a few prerequisites:

  • Activity for over 14 years old
  • Sign volunteer agreement
  • EVERYONE must pay their expenses directly to the services used: accommodation and meals. Diet and overnight stay approximately €40-70 per day

Discovering the route

Transhumance Cadí Sud (Gisclareny) – Cadí Nort (Ansovell)

September 28-29

We have a challenge: Cross the Cadí from one side to the other, coming from the depths of Pedraforca. Emblematic mountains and free horses.

We will pass through Bonshomes paths, through places full of history and ancestral routes.

On September 28th the departure will be from Gisclareny to Fórnols and the walk will be approximately 26 km. The overnight stay will be at Fórnols Mill, an accommodation that is already a friendly roof, with a jacuzzi and ideal amenities to comfort the effort made during the day.

On Sunday the 29th we will cross the Cadí, jumping towards the north face, along limestone rock paths and plains that suddenly open up like a green mat with alpine forests, until we reach Ansovell.

Ansovell, a mountain village at the foot of Cadí, where we will say goodbye to the herd that we will have accompanied for two days.

A magnificent pasture and a little paradise for horses!

Are we accompanying you here?

The Moreu group is the protagonist of this trip. Moreu and “his” mares: Prana, Pastoreta, Ítaca, Pampa, Pluja, Llívia, Sherpa, Flor, Pedra, Vinya, África, Laika and Eru.

This doesn't happen every day! Do you want to join us?

Who is it for?
For people who like walking in the mountains, horses, challenges and tranquility, with a desire to disconnect and experiences to connect with themselves! (activity for adults, accompanied young people from 14 years old).

Basic or essential things to bring:
Comfortable shoes and clothing for going through the mountains, spare shoes, raincoat, yellow vest (car), cap, gloves, knife, sunscreen, backpack to carry lunch and water on during the route, bottle to fill with water, headlamp, small suitcase with the most essentials (it will travel in the assistance car and should not take up too much space) and you must bring a tent or the necessary equipment for camping.

Other interesting facts:
To do the transhumance on foot you must be in good physical shape. If you cannot walk that much and want to accompany us, we give you the possibility of acting as an assistance car (or alternating car and foot), an essential role for the crossing of carts and support for the people who will be walking and the horses, in this case it is necessary to communicate it.

The daily cost of sleeping and eating is around 40/70 euros. Saturday is half board at the Molí de Fórnols and we recommend meeting on Friday evening.

For lunch, we make short stops, and sometimes we eat on the go, so we recommend bringing a sandwich or nuts, fruit, chocolate, energy foods that you can bring from home or leave with the accommodation the night before.

The food is ovo-lacto vegetarian with vegan and gluten free options.

For the return to Ansovell, the costs of a taxi will be shared to return to the starting point.

The Thursday before we will create a WhatsApp group to provide detailed information, such as departure time and place, and where you can ask any questions you need and clarify any last-minute doubts.
