A life lesson

Beauty, wisdom and tenacity. Three qualities of this precious and wise being.

Kashmir was ridden too young and badly, which is why she arrived at the Foundation in a very bad biomechanical state. She was unable to trot or gallop, she was stiff, her back muscles were blocked, her spine was still in childlike growth, she had received too much weight and too much pressure, and she was very afraid.

After 9 years of living in freedom, Kashmir moves freely and is part of a family of mares in which she is a pillar. A young mare and at the same time with a lot of knowledge. She has been able to do transhumance, be a mother, enjoy the mountains, the rivers, get to know the sea, weave a bond of unconditional friendship with some members of her herd like Cigronet...

Last November 2019, Kashmir suffered a very serious and very rare injury due to a resistant bacteria. After spending almost 3 months admitted to the Bellaterra Veterinary Hospital, fighting for her life, she has returned home where she is slowly recovering. Full of life and eager to return to her freedom, she knows that she still has a long time ahead of her in a confined space, far from her loved ones, to finish recovering. A second operation may be necessary to ensure that she can have a dignified and moving life. Now she needs a lot of attention and care.

For now, she lives near Gaia, the wise one of her group, who needs special attention due to her age. Both of them have found themselves at the foot of Cadí, the best space in Cavalls Guiabosc Baridà, to heal body and soul.

Against all odds, Kashmir has been clear from the very beginning that she wanted to remain connected to life, and despite the care, the pain, the risk, the discomfort, the isolation... She has eaten, she has not been discouraged or given up, she has fought for her life and to return home. Quite an example for all!!

An experience that has transformed her from a young mare to a master, a wise and powerful mare.
